On August 11, 2011, 24-year-old Manuel Amaro-Rojas was found shot and killed in Denver, Colorado. Initially, authorities responded to a car crash at the 2700 block of W. 8th Avenue, but upon further investigation, it was determined that Amaro-Rojas had died from a gunshot wound to his right arm and chest, not from injuries related to the crash. His death was ruled a homicide shortly after.
