In the winter of 2016, a Henrico father, known for his funny, selfless, caring, and giving nature, became another victim of gun violence in Richmond, Virginia. Bryant C. Bogle, a 33-year-old male, was found with a gunshot wound on the sidewalk in the 3100 block of Carolina Avenue on the night of December 19, 2016. The call reporting shots fired came in at approximately 9:52 p.m., and when officers arrived, they discovered Bogle unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death marked the city's 61st homicide of a year that saw a significant increase in such violent crimes. In the wake of his death, friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil to remember a man who was clearly loved by many. The community was left to grapple with the sudden and tragic loss of a father and a cherished individual.
The Richmond Police Department publicly identified Bogle as the victim and appealed to the community for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case. Major Crimes Detective Michael Gouldman was assigned to the investigation, and the public was urged to contact him or Crime Stoppers with any potential leads. Despite these efforts, information regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the shooting of Bryant C. Bogle has not been made publicly available.
