In the pre-dawn hours of a Wednesday in late July 2015, the relative quiet near a bus stop in northeast Denver was violently shattered. Eric Walker, a 46-year-old Black man, was waiting for the bus near the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Clayton Street. It was a routine moment that tragically turned into his last as an unknown individual approached him on foot and fired a gun multiple times. The sudden eruption of violence left Walker with numerous gunshot wounds.
