Jordan Valdez, a 23-year-old male, was fatally stabbed on the evening of Monday, October 17, 2016. The incident that led to his death unfolded near the intersection of West Mexico Avenue and South Raleigh Street, turning a local park into a crime scene.
The conflict that claimed Valdez's life reportedly had its origins in an online argument. An altercation that began on Facebook between two young women spilled into the real world, drawing in others, including Valdez and the man who would be accused of his murder. During the ensuing confrontation, Valdez was stabbed. He was a father to a young son and was remembered by his family as a loving and caring person, always willing to help his loved ones. In the days following the stabbing, the Denver Police Department identified a suspect in the case.
