On February 3, 2014, Tomas Campos-Cortes, age 41, and another individual named David Campos-Zacarias were attacked in the parking lot of their apartment complex, The Renwick Apartments, located at 6768 Renwick Drive in southwest Houston. They had been drinking by their truck when an unknown suspect or suspects approached and shot them. David died at the scene, while Tomas succumbed to his injuries later at Ben Taub General Hospital.
