On January 24, 2007, 44-year-old Mark William Hunn was fatally shot outside his residence at 12863 Westmere Drive in Houston, Texas. Around 1 a.m., Houston Police Department officers responded to a shooting call and found Hunn lying on the ground in front of his neighbor's house at 12867 Westmere. He had sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Hunn's truck, a green and beige 2002 Ford F150 SuperCrew pickup, was missing from his driveway but was later found abandoned in a field located in the 15000 block of Blueridge along the Beltway service road.
Witnesses reported seeing two suspects leaving the scene in both their own vehicle and Hunn's truck. One suspect was described as an unknown male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing between 150 to 160 pounds, and wearing all black clothing, including a jacket, pants, and a knit cap. There was no description available for the second suspect. The suspects' vehicle was described as a white, late 1980s to early 1990s four-door car, possibly a midsized Mercury.
Hunn was a computer network engineer associated with Duke Energy since 1999. He was a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Microsoft Certified Professional, and Microsoft Certified Trainer. Born on January 23, 1963, in Minot, North Dakota, he grew up in Dallas, Texas, where he graduated from Pearce High School and attended Texas Tech University. His untimely death left a profound impact on his family, friends, and colleagues.
