Amiliar Portillo, a 26-year-old man, was fatally shot on the night of March 31, 2014, in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. at an apartment complex on Summer Street. When Houston police officers arrived at the scene, they found Portillo lying unresponsive in the parking lot. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly thereafter.
According to witnesses, Portillo was standing near a vehicle with his dog when two unknown males approached him. Shortly after, gunshots were heard. Following the shooting, the suspects stole a dark gray four-door Cadillac that Portillo had been driving. The vehicle was later recovered by authorities. Houston police released descriptions of the suspects, noting that they were both dressed in all black clothing. One suspect was identified by wearing orange-colored undergarments and the other by pants with white stripes.
