On April 30, 2014, Bernavel Ortiz, aged 42, was shot and killed in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred at an apartment complex, where officers responded to reports of gunfire. When they arrived, Ortiz was found unresponsive, having suffered fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
