On November 23, 2014, at approximately 2:10 a.m., William J. Whitfield, a 31-year-old African American male, was fatally shot outside the S&S Sports Bar located at 13310 Cullen Boulevard in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred following a birthday party held at the venue. An argument ensued between Mr. Whitfield and an unidentified individual after they exited the establishment. Subsequently, multiple men opened fire on Mr. Whitfield before fleeing the scene. Mr. Whitfield was pronounced dead at the location.
Two of Mr. Whitfield's relatives were also injured during the shooting: a 54-year-old African American male and a 38-year-old African American female. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The male victim was shot in the leg, while the female victim suffered a gunshot wound to the foot. Both are expected to recover.
At the time of the incident, the sports bar was hosting a large gathering, with possibly over a hundred attendees. Investigators believe that security cameras on the property may have captured footage of the shooting, and they have been reviewing the recordings to identify the perpetrators. Witnesses present during the event were interviewed by the police to gather more information.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the suspects involved in the fatal shooting of William J. Whitfield remain unidentified.
