David Koah, aged 30, died on January 8, 2015, after a tragic sequence of events that began in March 2014. He was shot in the head during what was believed to be a drug-related incident at an apartment complex on the Northeast Side of San Antonio. When police arrived at the scene, they found David lying on the floor, severely injured but still alive. He was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.
Despite surgery, the bullet wound left David a paraplegic, significantly impairing his health and quality of life.
Following his initial hospital treatment, David was placed in a local nursing home, Meridian Care, for further care and recovery. His mother, Tammy Davis, has since alleged that her son received inadequate care, which directly contributed to his eventual death. She described conditions where David was left in extremely unsanitary states, suffered severe neglect, and even endured pain from untreated issues. She reported that her son's condition deteriorated rapidly during his stay at the facility, leading to multiple visits to the ICU before his death.
David's case remains unsolved as the identity of his shooter was never determined. Tammy Davis has expressed her desire to hold not only those responsible for the shooting accountable but also the caregivers at the nursing home, whom she believes contributed to her son’s suffering during the final months of his life. She has vowed to continue her fight for justice for David, addressing both the violent crime and the alleged negligence that led to his tragic end.
