On the night of August 17, 2015, 24-year-old Hispanic male David Chavez and his 26-year-old girlfriend, Yvette Rodriguez, were fatally shot while sitting in a car outside Rodriguez's home on Edinburg Street in southeast Houston. The couple had stepped outside for privacy, as Rodriguez came from a large family. Witnesses reported hearing four to five gunshots around 10:20 p.m., and both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
