On the night of August 17, 2015, 24-year-old Hispanic male David Chavez and his 26-year-old girlfriend, Yvette Rodriguez, were fatally shot while sitting in a car outside Rodriguez's home on Edinburg Street in southeast Houston. The couple had stepped outside for privacy, as Rodriguez came from a large family. Witnesses reported hearing four to five gunshots around 10:20 p.m., and both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators found no immediate evidence pointing to a motive or suspect. There were no reports of anyone seen near the car or any vehicles fleeing the scene. In an effort to gather leads, Houston police released surveillance footage on September 10, 2015, showing a vehicle of interest connected to the shooting.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the deaths of David Chavez and Yvette Rodriguez. The case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to seek information from the public to aid in their investigation.
