On November 12, 2015, Patrick Petitt, a 35-year-old resident of Houston, was fatally shot inside his apartment located at 1001 Pinemont. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 1:30 a.m., when an unknown man was let into the apartment that Petitt shared with his uncle, Craig Miller. Shortly after the man entered, Miller overheard an argument between Petitt and the suspect. This escalated when the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot Petitt, killing him on the scene.
