On November 23, 2015, Daniel Trevino, age 32, died during a violent encounter in Houston, Texas. Trevino was the subject of a warrant being served at a home in the Mount Houston area. When law enforcement officers arrived, Trevino opened fire, injuring three officers — a Harris County Sheriff’s sergeant and two agents from the Texas Attorney General's Office. This led to a prolonged standoff lasting several hours, with Trevino barricading himself inside the home.
The standoff ended when Trevino was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The officers, though injured, survived the incident. Trevino's criminal history included multiple arrests for assault and weapon charges, and he was being pursued due to violations of a protective order against him.
