Died of a gunshot wound to the chest. Found dead on a couch inside trailer Jeremy Morris, aged 7, vanished from his mother's home in Shingletown, California, on July 23, 1983. For days, dozens of law enforcement officers and volunteers searched the surrounding woods in extreme heat, but they eventually called off the search. On August 6, Jeremy’s badly decomposed body was discovered by a rancher in a spring approximately four miles from his home. Though no specific cause of death was identified, authorities immediately classified it as a homicide.
