On November 20, 2016, Michael Rangel, a 27-year-old, was killed in a shooting that took place early in the morning in San Antonio, Texas. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. near an auto supply shop on the North Side of the city, in the 800 block of San Pedro Avenue. According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office, Michael was one of three people involved in the shooting, and he died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
The other two victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries and were questioned by police afterward.
The San Antonio Police Department reported that the altercation may have started at Hott Dawgz Lounge and escalated, spilling into the parking lot of a nearby business where the shooting ultimately took place. Responding officers discovered Rangel deceased upon arrival. Authorities are still seeking information regarding the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting, and Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect(s).
As of the last available update, no arrests had been made, and investigators continued to gather information. The tragic event highlighted the continued issues of gun violence in the community, and Michael's family, along with the San Antonio community, mourned his untimely death.
