In the winter of 2009, a burst of gunfire on a North Nashville street cut short the life of 20-year-old Norcill Dewayne Clack. On the evening of Monday, December 28th, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Clack was walking along the 1900 block of 12th Avenue North when he was fatally wounded. The scene near 1908 12th Avenue North suggested a chaotic exchange, with evidence of multiple shots having been fired from more than one weapon.
Norcill, a young man with his life ahead of him, became another victim of gun violence in the city. His death prompted a homicide investigation by the Nashville authorities. An obituary published in early January 2010 announced his passing at the age of 20 and provided details of his funeral services, which were held at the Crystal Fountain Church. A court case that was pending against him was officially abated by death on January 6, 2010.
