In the afternoon of a late February day in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 19-year-old Brandon LaJames Howard was tragically cut short. On Sunday, February 21, 2010, Howard was engaged in a conversation with three individuals seated in a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence at 2906 Clifton Avenue. It was shortly after 3:00 p.m. when the normalcy of the afternoon was shattered by the arrival of two vehicles, a black 4-door BMW and a dark blue or black SUV.
Without warning, individuals from within both the BMW and the SUV opened fire in Howard's direction. As the shots rang out, he turned and ran towards the house in an attempt to escape the sudden onslaught of violence. Despite his efforts to seek cover, he was struck by the gunfire. Howard managed to make it to the back of the house before he collapsed from his injuries.
In a desperate attempt to save his life, Howard's mother and a friend quickly got him into a vehicle and rushed him towards the emergency room. Tragically, the severity of his wounds was too great, and he succumbed to his injuries while on the way to the hospital.
The case of Brandon Howard's murder remains an open investigation with the Nashville Police Department. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with his death, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The authorities continue to seek information from the public that might lead to a break in this cold case, leaving a family to mourn the loss of a young man whose life was taken in a brazen act of violence.
