On the morning of November 21, 2011, a discovery was made at the rear of a residence located at 2768 Burns in Memphis, Tennessee. Responding to a "man down" call at approximately 7 a.m., police officers found 33-year-old Nicholas Taylor, a Black / African American male, lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Paramedics were called to the scene, but it was too late; Taylor was pronounced deceased.
The initial investigation into his death revealed a narrative of a seemingly ordinary act
that turned fatal. According to the preliminary findings, Taylor had been walking from a store when he was confronted by three individuals in a vehicle. Shots were fired from the vehicle, striking Taylor and leaving him mortally wounded. The assailants then fled the scene, disappearing into the city.
The Memphis Police Department's Homicide Bureau took charge of the investigation. Despite the initial details about the suspects and their vehicle, the case grew cold. Public appeals for information were made, with investigators urging anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward to help solve the case. However, no arrests have been publicly announced, and the identities of the three suspects who so abruptly ended Nicholas Taylor's life remain unknown.
