On a mild Saturday evening in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of Marco Gilmore, a 33-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short. On April 21, 2012, while visiting a friend's home on Eldridge Avenue in North Memphis, a knock came at the front door around 9:50 p.m. When Gilmore went to answer, he was met by two individuals standing on the other side of the storm door.
Without warning, the individuals opened fire through the glass, striking Gilmore.
He was rushed to the Regional One trauma center, but the injuries he sustained proved to be fatal, and he died shortly after his arrival. The two assailants fled the scene, leaving behind a senseless act of violence and a grieving community.
In the years that have followed, the murder of Marco Gilmore has remained unsolved. The Memphis Police Department's Cold Case Unit continues to investigate the homicide and has appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the identification and apprehension of the individuals responsible for his death. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly named in connection with the case, leaving his family and friends still searching for answers and justice.
