In the late hours of a Tuesday night in Nashville, the life of Jason Earl Thomas was tragically cut short. On June 12, 2012, the 32-year-old Black male was discovered in a parking lot at 2610 Jefferson Street, lying on the ground near the driver's side of his red 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. He had been shot multiple times.
Investigators determined that the shots were fired from the passenger side of the vehicle while Thomas was seated in the driver's seat. A witness reported seeing a Black male wearing a white t-shirt standing on the passenger side of the Grand Prix just before the shooting occurred. This individual remains the only publicly described person of interest in the case.
Despite the initial investigation and a public appeal for information, the case has grown cold over the years. No arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Jason Earl Thomas, and the identity of the shooter remains a mystery. The Nashville Police Department continues to list the case as unsolved, holding out hope that new leads will one day emerge and bring closure to a case that has remained open for over a decade.
