In the quiet early hours of March 5, 2017, the life of Uti Makasini, a 27-year-old Tongan man, was brought to a violent and tragic end in Memphis, Tennessee. Originally from California, Makasini was at a Fairfield Inn hotel where a drug transaction involving a significant quantity of marijuana soured, erupting into a fatal robbery.
