On May 18, 2017, Roger Mayes, aged 47, was found dead in a field in South Memphis, Tennessee. His body was discovered on Dison Avenue near E. Person Avenue, with clear signs of robbery. Mayes had been shot to death and was found without his wallet, phone, or shoes, leading investigators to believe he had been a victim of a targeted crime rather than a random act of violence.
