A late-night argument on a North Philadelphia porch tragically escalated, leaving a father dead and his son facing murder charges. In the late hours of Saturday, April 4, 2026, police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a person with a weapon on the 600 block of West Wingohocking Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 61-year-old Kevin Jenkins lying on the front porch of a residence with multiple stab wounds to his neck.
Emergency medical personnel quickly transported Jenkins to Jefferson
Einstein Philadelphia Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal. He was pronounced dead at 12:11 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2026. Investigators believe the violent altercation stemmed from an argument between Jenkins and his son.
At the scene, police apprehended the victim's 28-year-old son, Devin Jenkins, without incident. He was taken into custody and has since been charged with murder and possessing an instrument of a crime. During the altercation, the suspect sustained a laceration on his finger and was taken to a hospital for treatment before being processed by authorities. A knife, believed to be the weapon used in the stabbing, was recovered by investigators on the front porch.
