The next day, Moore was found murdered inside his apartment on Eighth Avenue, which is located in the East Village neighborhood of San Diego. Several personal items, including a set of Russell culinary knives and his red 1994 Suzuki Katana motorcycle, were stolen during the crime. The motorcycle was recovered about a month later on October 17, 2000, on 24th Street, but the case remains unsolved, and no suspects have been identified thus far.
Moore's murder has left the San Diego community and his family without closure for over two decades. His parents have tirelessly traveled from Pennsylvania to San Diego each year to pass out flyers and raise awareness about their son's case in hopes of finding any information that could lead to solving the crime.
