On January 24, 2010, Brian Crosland, an 18-year-old, was fatally shot in North Philadelphia. The incident took place in a vacant lot near the intersection of Taney Street and West Montgomery Avenue. Around 4:30 a.m., Crosland was attacked by gunmen who robbed him of his coat and cell phone. He was found in the lot near a partially collapsed house, where a deep puddle of blood marked the spot where he fell.
