Eric Whittaker, a 24-year-old Black male from Philadelphia, was killed on August 3, 2011, in South Philadelphia. He lived on the 1900 block of South 21st Street, and the shooting happened nearby at 21st and Mifflin streets. What had been an ordinary stretch of the city in the early morning hours became the scene of a homicide after gunfire broke out and Whittaker was struck.
