In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in August 2011, the life of a young Philadelphia man was cut short by a sudden act of violence. Landis Carter, a 25-year-old Black male, was shot and killed while sitting in his car at the Plaza Towers Apartments on the 2300 block of Tremont Street. The incident, which took place around 6:30 a.m. on August 16, 2011, left a community in shock and a family in mourning.
