On December 7, 2011, Damaire Thomas, a 21-year-old man, was shot and killed outside his apartment building on Kelly Street in the Homewood neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Thomas had just returned home when an unknown assailant opened fire. The incident occurred late at night, and despite a prompt response from authorities, no suspects have been identified in connection with the shooting.
