Deontay Smith, a 17-year-old from East Liberty, Pittsburgh, was fatally shot on March 25, 2012. The incident took place near Inner City Ministries in the 500 block of West St. Clair Street. Smith was walking with a friend when they were approached by an unidentified male who opened fire. Smith was struck multiple times, with most of the gunshots targeting his head, while his friend managed to flee the scene unharmed.
