In the afternoon hours of a Wednesday in early March of 2021, a young man's life was tragically cut short on a street in Philadelphia. Eighteen-year-old Quasir Johnson was on the 1700 block of West Erie Avenue when he was struck by a gunshot.
Responding to the call at 3:13 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers found the wounded teenager. In a desperate attempt to save his life, they placed him in their patrol vehicle and rushed him to Temple University Hospital.
Despite their efforts, Quasir succumbed to his injuries and died later that afternoon. He had been a resident of Gilham Street in the city.
The investigation into the shooting led to a breakthrough a little over a month later. On Monday, April 5, 2021, Philadelphia Police arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Quasir Johnson. The case is now awaiting trial to determine the outcome for the individual accused of ending the young man's life.
