In the late evening hours of August 23, 2012, a violent encounter on a South Philadelphia street cut short the life of 29-year-old Jujuan Hinton. The Hispanic/Latino male was behind the wheel of his 2002 Chevrolet Impala, driving along the 2200 block of Snyder Avenue at approximately 7:55 p.m., when he was struck by multiple gunshots.
Despite his severe injuries, Hinton attempted to escape his attacker or seek help.
He managed to turn his vehicle onto the 2000 block of South Croskey Street before losing control and crashing into a house. The impact of the collision brought his desperate flight to an end.
When police arrived at the chaotic scene, they discovered Hinton lying beside his wrecked car. He was immediately transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, but the gunshot wounds proved to be fatal. In the early morning hours of August 24, at 1:23 a.m., Jujuan Hinton was pronounced dead.
In the aftermath of the shooting, authorities began their investigation into the homicide.
