On October 13, 2014, 29-year-old Omar Hodges was shot and killed while waiting in his car for his work crew in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood. Hodges, a sanitation worker for the City of Pittsburgh, was sitting in his Cadillac around 7 a.m. on Birmingham Avenue when he was gunned down. Witnesses reported hearing six to seven gunshots. He was taken to a nearby hospital but died from his injuries shortly after the incident.
