On a summer morning in Pittsburgh's Larimer neighborhood, the life of 18-year-old Jaymerie Washington, a Black male, was cut short by gunfire. On July 18, 2017, at approximately 10:20 a.m., Washington and another man, 41-year-old Terrell Wright, were shot and killed outside an apartment complex on Auburn Street. The city's ShotSpotter system, a network of acoustic sensors designed to detect and locate gunshots, registered at least five rounds fired at the scene. When police and paramedics arrive ...
