Do you know who murdered Sven Jansson in 1994? In the early morning hours of January 27, 1994, the sound of gunshots broke the quiet of a North Portland neighborhood. A resident in the 600 block of N Humboldt Street discovered the body of 22-year-old Caucasian male Sven Jansson on the sidewalk at approximately 2:30 a.m. Jansson had been fatally shot.
Jansson had recently been released from prison after serving time for bank robbery and was known to be involved with drugs.
The investigation into his death revealed that shortly before he was killed, he was seen talking to an unidentified man who was riding a bicycle. The man was described as an African-American male, between 20 and 25 years old, standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall with medium-length jheri curls.
Despite the presence of a person of interest, no arrests have ever been made in connection with Sven Jansson's murder. His case remains an unsolved cold case with the Portland Police Bureau. Authorities have continued to ask for the public's help for any information that might lead to the identification and arrest of the individual responsible for his death. A cash reward has been offered for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
