On July 26, 2003, 23-year-old Robert Lee Thompson Jr. was shot and killed during a high-speed chase on I-205 in Portland, Oregon. Witnesses saw a red Impala, driven by Thompson, being pursued by a dark Volkswagen Jetta. Gunshots were fired from the Jetta, hitting Thompson, who crashed near I-205 and Powell.
