On December 5, 1978, Foster Ellis Luyster Jr., age 41, was found murdered in his home at 1326 S. Indian Avenue in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His 6-year-old son discovered him on the bed, initially believing his father had gotten into a fight and was resting. Foster's wife became alarmed when he failed to pick her up from work as planned and called home, where her son informed her that "Daddy is bleeding and hurt." Upon rushing home, she found Foster gravely wounded from a gunshot.
