Do you know who murdered Toni? In the late spring of 1985, a young woman named Toni Renee Jones was celebrating a new job, a night that should have been filled with promise but instead ended in unimaginable tragedy. The 24-year-old female was last seen in the early morning hours of May 23rd at the Winner's Circle Club located at 4900 E. Skelly Drive in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She had been enjoying her evening, dancing with an unidentified man.
After leaving the club around 1:30 a.m., she drove a friend home, a final act of kindness before she vanished into the night.
Hours later, the horrifying discovery was made. At approximately 4:15 a.m., Toni's nude body was found on a rural road at 11700 N. 57th W. Avenue, more than ten miles from where she had last been seen. The evidence at the scene painted a brutal picture of her final moments; it appeared she had been sexually assaulted and then run over with her own vehicle. Tragically, Toni succumbed to her injuries while on the way to the hospital. Her 1979 Chevrolet Chevette was later found abandoned in a brushy area near Pine and Xenophon, eight miles from where her body was discovered.
The investigation into Toni's abduction and homicide has spanned decades, yet it remains an unsolved cold case. The man she was seen dancing with was described as possibly Native American or Latino, between 38 and 40 years old, standing about 6'4' with a slender build, a pock-marked face, and dark, wavy hair. Despite this description, no suspects have ever been publicly named, and no arrests have been made in connection with her murder. The Tulsa Police Department continues to seek information from the public, hoping that someone will come forward with the key piece of evidence that will finally bring justice for Toni Renee Jones and her family.
