Marilyn Joi Base, known as "Joi" to friends and family, was killed on April 9, 1987, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That night, Marilyn left her apartment around 9 p.m. to do laundry at the complex where she lived, located at 12531 E. 41st Street. When she did not return after 45 minutes, her boyfriend went to look for her. He found her vehicle still parked outside the laundry room with the keys in the ignition and clothing in the backseat.
