On September 29, 2007, Kam Yan, a 66-year-old Asian male, was fatally shot in San Francisco's Japantown area. He was walking with a family member when an unknown assailant approached and opened fire without warning. The motive for the killing remains a mystery, as authorities found no clear connection between Kam Yan and the shooter.
