Matios Haile Zeru, a 29-year-old resident of Hayward, California, tragically lost his life on the night of September 16, 2016. The incident occurred around 9:41 p.m. when officers from the Hayward Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 700 block of Memorial Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Zeru lying unresponsive on the ground in front of an apartment complex, suffering from a gunshot wound.
