Do you know what happened to Rebecca? On a Halloween night in 1990, Rebecca Lynn Colley, a 24-year-old female, went with a friend to a biker bar known as the M&J Club located at 3800 Old State Highway 51 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. That night, an encounter inside the club would set in motion a tragic chain of events. A man reportedly began to aggressively flirt with Rebecca, and after she rejected his advances, the situation grew tense.
Later, as Rebecca and her friend were leaving, she realized she had left her cigarettes
and lighter inside and went back in to retrieve them. Upon re-entering, she was confronted by three women. The confrontation escalated, and one of the women struck Rebecca, knocking her to the ground. The other two women joined in the assault, beating her severely in the parking lot; one of the assailants reportedly used a bottle during the attack. By the time she made it back to her friend's car, she was unrecognizable.
In the weeks that followed the brutal assault, Rebecca began to suffer from severe headaches. Despite seeking medical attention, her condition worsened. On January 15, 1991, roughly two and a half months after the attack, Rebecca was at St. Francis hospital awaiting transport for an MRI when she suddenly collapsed and died. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be a chronic subdural hematoma, a brain bleed resulting from the injuries she sustained in the parking lot beating.
The initial investigation into Rebecca's assault and subsequent death was hampered by jurisdictional confusion between law enforcement agencies. The bartender was a witness to the assault, but in the years since, no one has ever been charged in connection with her death. The case grew cold, leaving behind two children, a six-year-old girl and a toddler, to grow up without their mother. The three women responsible for the fatal attack on Rebecca Colley have never been identified, and her murder remains unsolved.
