Do you know who murdered Shevrick? In a tragic turn of events on November 10, 1992, Shevrick Dewayne Winston, a 24-year-old male, was found murdered in his North Tulsa, Oklahoma, residence. He was discovered by a family member at approximately 5:45 PM in the rear bedroom of the house he shared with his girlfriend and her mother at 4819 N. Xanthus Avenue. The scene suggested a violent struggle; Winston had been shot near the front door and was pursued through the house before succumbing to multiple gunshot wounds.
The
timing of his death was particularly significant. Earlier that same day, Winston had been sentenced to 36 months in prison for his participation in a cocaine distribution ring that operated between Los Angeles and Tulsa. His cooperation with authorities, in which he had testified about his role in the drug network, had marked him as a potential target. This act of testifying was seen by some as a betrayal, turning him into what is commonly known as a 'snitch.'
In the ensuing investigation, two other men involved in the same drug operation, 23-year-old Keith Blackwell and 24-year-old Brian Gaston, were questioned by authorities in connection with Winston's homicide. Despite these initial lines of inquiry, no arrests were ever made. The case grew cold over time, and to this day, the murder of Shevrick Winston remains unsolved, leaving his family without answers and his killers at large.
