On a quiet Tuesday in March 1999, 37-year-old Wilma Clifton-Johnson, a white female resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was inside her home when the stillness of the night was broken by gunfire. Police were dispatched in response to reports of shots fired, and officers arrived at a residence listed in official records as 5340 West 8th Street, where they found her dead from at least one gunshot wound.
