In the early morning hours of February 28, 2010, a scene of shocking violence and subsequent apathy unfolded outside the Chicken Hut restaurant in Tulsa, Oklahoma, resulting in the death of 27-year-old Valentino Verner. An African-American male, Verner was shot multiple times in a brazen act of violence that occurred in the midst of a large crowd, with estimates of 100 to 150 people present at the popular late-night eatery.
