On November 7, 2010, Nelson Edgar Leyva, age 34, was found dead in a front yard in northwest Oklahoma City. Police were called early that morning to the 1700 block of NW 37th Street, where they found Leyva lying in the yard. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities quickly determined that his death was a homicide.
