In the spring of 2016, a violent home invasion in Tulsa, Oklahoma, left one man dead and another fatally wounded, setting off an investigation that would be featured on the A&E television series 'The First 48.' The deceased man was identified as Dalvan L. Miller, a 20-year-old from Tulsa. The incident that led to his death unfolded as a botched robbery, where Miller himself was one of the perpetrators.
On the night of the incident, Miller and an accomplice, Tramaine Jackson, forced their
way into a Tulsa apartment with the intent to rob the occupants. The residents of the apartment included Austin Goodwin and his girlfriend. A violent exchange of gunfire ensued between the intruders and Goodwin. In the chaos, both Goodwin and Miller sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a chaotic and bloody aftermath. Austin Goodwin, the resident of the apartment, was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries he sustained. Dalvan Miller, critically wounded, was transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Miller succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on March 23, 2016. The investigation into the deadly home invasion quickly identified Miller as one of the two suspects involved in the robbery and the resulting homicide of Austin Goodwin.
The subsequent police investigation, as documented in 'The First 48' episode titled 'Wake-Up Call,' focused on identifying and apprehending the second suspect who had fled the scene. Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify Tramaine Jackson as Miller's accomplice in the fatal home invasion. Jackson was later apprehended and faced charges for his role in the deaths of both Austin Goodwin and Dalvan Miller. The case highlighted the tragic consequences of a violent crime that resulted in the deaths of both a victim and one of the individuals responsible.
