Summary based on 8 sources
In the autumn of 2016, a night of violence in north Tulsa ended the life of 40-year-old Antwan Donyell Hampton. On the evening of November 6th, Hampton was at the Towne Square Apartments at 1607 E. Young Place when he was shot multiple times outside an upstairs apartment. Despite his injuries, he managed to make his way to the complex's parking lot, where he collapsed and was later found by first responders. Rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his wounds in the early hours of November 7, 2016.

The investigation into the shooting quickly identified a suspect. Andre Dion Miles, a 34-year-old man identified by prosecutors as a member of the Hoover Crips gang, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Hampton's death. Court documents alleged that Miles fatally shot Hampton, though the motive for the shooting was not publicly disclosed. It was also reported that investigators believed Miles may have worked with another unidentified man. Another individual, 23-year-old Aundre Byrd, was named as a person of interest in the case and was sought for questioning.

While a warrant was issued for Andre Dion Miles' arrest, the path to justice took a number of turns. In a separate and tragic turn of events, the person of interest, Aundre Byrd, was himself shot and killed in Tulsa in July 2018, before any potential testimony in Hampton's case could be heard. The ultimate outcome of the murder charge against Andre Dion Miles for the death of Antwan Hampton remains unclear from available online sources, which later reported on his trial for separate, heinous crimes committed in the years following Hampton's death.
