On May 30, 1998, the body of Raymond Kreitzer, aged 35, was found in Mad River near the Ohio Edison Plant in Springfield, Ohio. Kreitzer had been missing for several months, reported missing by a family member on December 30, 1997. His body was discovered by local canoeists near the mouth of Buck Creek. The condition of his body indicated he had been in the water for some time, and he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, leading authorities to classify his death as a homicide.
