James Jamonte Turner, age 23, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of April 18, 2009, in San Francisco, California. The incident occurred shortly after Turner had left Club Boss, located at 750 Harrison Street. Around 2:07 a.m., he was walking along 3rd and Harrison Streets when he encountered a group of individuals who were loitering in the area.
A fight broke out between two different groups at the corner, and during the altercation, one of the unknown individuals fired a gunshot into the air, causing Turner and others nearby to flee the scene.
As Turner ran along 3rd Street towards Folsom Street, he was pursued and shot in the back. He succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Despite efforts by homicide inspectors to gather information, many of the witnesses have not come forward, leaving the case unsolved. The Mayor's Office of San Francisco has authorized a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for Turner's death.
