Avonta Russell, a 19-year-old from Cincinnati, Ohio, died on December 20, 2013, after being shot in the Millvale area of Cincinnati. Russell was transported to University Hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. His death became one of several homicides that marked the area's struggles with gun violence during that period.
